I usually use one of my bass rod and reels when I go saltwater fishing and throw soft plastics. Now they we got a bay boat and I'm going to be doing a lot of saltwater fishing I want to get a baitcaster to use exclusively for saltwater. Recommendations?

If you want a quality rod for $200 get a falcon cara. If you want a quality rod for $150 get a shimano crucial or falcon lowrider. If you want a quality rod for $100 get a temple fork outfitter rod. Follow those 3 easy steps to getting a quality rod

I'm waiting on the new Curado to get back on the shelves. Talked with a guy at Bowies who said they're amazing....complete overhaul. My favorite right now is the Calcutta by far.

I have a curado 200E7 for this. Too bad they quit making em.

Revo or Orra inshore would be good (never used them though), I'm not familiar with the new curados in salt but that'd probably be fine too.

Basically, get a nicer baitcaster with centrifugal brakes, I worry about magnetic brakes corroding with lots of salt exposure.

If you like round reels get a calcutta and you'll probably still be using it 20 years from now

I had bad luck with an Orra inshore. I bought one fishes it give or six times and the anti reverse quit working. Brought it back to academy and bought a shimano Chronarch and couldn't be happier.

Hard to beat at $179. Everything I have heard is good.

Im leaning towards the new Curado and the Denali Kovert rods for my next buy

they're only gonna be around $180. New bearings, new dial brake system (don't open up side anymore), lighter material, etc.

Ah yea. I probably shouldn't have mentioned it. Never used the inshore but I have the Orra SX. Mine has worked fine for ~4 yrs now but the last 3 it's been strictly used to fish a yellow magic, so not thrown all the time. My brother however had one for about a year, maybe less when the same thing you described happened to his. And the same thing happened to my silver max after about 3 years. Haven't had the issue with any of the Revos I own though.

looks like they are out of stock at Bass Pro. Is that the case pretty much every where?

dude at Bowies last week said Shimano is way behind on filling orders. He said they ordered 40 or so and only got 5 at the time and they were sold at the Sportsman show. Told me to keep checking for the next few weeks and they'll be back in stock hopefully. Same thing at BPS

Bringing one in for a friend, it looks to be 20-30 years old. Crank is on the wrong side for me.
