Best all around lb test for offshore

It is time to restring some offshore lines .... They will be used for pulling some baits and dropping for snapper and what not .... I think 60 would be good what says the OB ?

60# is fine for the mainline. I would run a 200# leader on it though.

Really depends totally on target species. 60lb is a good middle of the row poundage. That being said I wouldn't use my snapper reels for pulling/trolling. The abrasive reef/rigs tear line and doesn't make for a good trolling line thereafter.

It really depends on what size these Senators are. There is a big difference between a 4/0 and a 12/0. For a 4/0 I would use 40lb mono or 80lb braid (with some mono backing.).

Also, if the OP really wants to pull baits he should look at Shimano TLD's or other reels with a lever drag. It's possible to use a star drag for trolling but it sucks especially if the man on the reel is green.
