Bermuda Grass Dormant care and pre-green up

I remember someone talking about Bermuda grass pre-dormant care, but I can't find it.

I also remember someone from N. Alabama burning his yard yearly prior to the green-up of the bermuda. What month did you do the burn? Does the thatch and dormant grass burn easily enough to control with a water hose or should I do it closer to a rain event?
