"Battery Not Charging" Message on an older truck.......

Any idea what's causing this? Is this something I can just bring my truck to a Firestone and have them check out, or is this a dealership thing? In the owners manual it said that it may be something with the electrical system. It's a 2003 Silverado.

Have you checked the connections, Clean and tight? Tested battery or alternator?

Probably alternator. What does the voltage gauge in the cab show when the engine is running?

had the same message on my truck a few years ago. It was the alternator.

On a silverado, this is probably the repair
Undo pulley belt.
unscrew 2 bolts for alternator mount
unscrew ground wire
unscrew power wire
reverse to install

I think you're just trying to justify a new truck. But continue...
ETA - Alternator is $150 MAX
