She can still get a permit -- they (LSP) just charge an extra fee ($50) for people who haven't lived in La. for 15 years.
When she called (before I knew who she was) she started out by telling me that she's from California, and her boyfriend is paranoid (I'm paraphrasing), and he thinks she needs to carry a gun everywhere she goes. I told her she might be nicer than the boyfriend, but I agree with the boyfriend (and that she would hear me preach this all day Saturday).
She does sound nice -- hope she enjoys the class.

Be very weary. She is ate up with the ginger vitis. Just wear your cross Saturday

I'll wear my redneck attire -- bib overalls, no shirt, no shoes, no socks -- with spit cup. You think that might neutralize some of the California aura ?
Actually the class was full when she called, but it sounded like she might really benefit from some of this stuff, so I told her I'd squeeze in another chair.
