Fishing in a small tournament on Saturday. Options are basin side (I always call it the spillway) or Verret/Belle River/Grassy Lake. Been years since I fished the basin side. Know quite a few spots around pigeon and sorrel from when I was kid/teenager fishing with pops. More recent experience is from around grassy lake/lake palourde area. If you had to choose, where would you go?

For the record everyone else calls it the spillway side also.

I in no way am able to help you make your decision.

Edit: my last tournament there were a lot more people launching across the levee, but the water was also a little higher than it is now.

I haven't fished there in 18 years, used to fish down there couple of times a week at least from 20 years old till I left in '98 and I'm now 62. Usually found in tournaments that the spillway side produced more numbers while the Verret side at least back then held bigger fish. Black n Blue or crawfish Jig n Pig or Bagley Kill'r B crawfish or Tennessee shad patterns

Just an old-timers take on it
