I had a gret freshwater aquarium with plenty local species in it when I was younger. Some cool things that I had in mine are are choupique, river shrimp, golden topwater minnow, blue catfish, sacalait, and hogchoker flounder. I caught the hogchoker in the atchafalaya river throwing the cast net. They come up river during certain times of the year and are able to tolerate freshwater.

I caught mine out of my mom's neighbors private pond. I wonder if the legality applies to state waters or just the game fish itself regardless of whether or not it came from private waters.

Diesel probably knows about this....

There's an old pond by lake Ramsey just north of Covington that is full of goldfish that someone turned loose.

are you sure.. because..... what about bass tournaments... and such.. they "keep" fish then turn em loose..

from what I can gather you need a permit to transport a live fish on the road, unless it came from a pet shop, and releasing one is a major no-no

presumably prevents spread of disease and invasive species
