What is going on with this? Is there no rut at all?

I’m getting multiple bucks in East Feliciana parish as I type. Today for the first time I saw a shooter pushing a doe. Was a mild attempt but posture was unmistakable.

shite I would have thought y’all would have rutted by now. For the record I have no idea when the Louisiana rut is.

Jefferson County is super early in October but my place in South Texas is heating up.

90 percent of Mississippi deer rut from 3rd week in December to 2nd week in January.
Young bucks are still lightly sparring. We’re 2 weeks away

Louisiana estimated breeding days map

My whole life you wanted to be in the woods the week of thanksgiving. Then we would usually have a second rut around New Years. It’s just be a really strange year on deer activity. Our area is in the “exceptional drought” category.

My lease is near Sikes and bucks were chasing Thanksgiving weekend.

ETA: It was dead last weekend, I think only 1 doe was shot. There were 9 bucks killed the weekend before throughout the club. Heading back up next weekend after that front moves thru

Thanksgiving weekend. My BIL and FIL shot some nice 8’s. My son got his first one as well.

I have had 3-4 running together since I put the cameras up (mid nov) they’ve sparred a little bit, but most nights they are bro-ing out. They’ll bust up soon, definitely an outlier for how late they’re hanging together.

In general, I’ve never seen THE dominant buck running with a group though

Sounds like you missed the rut. Things are happening a few weeks early in Area 1 so I hear. Been stuck at work

Ours (caddo parish) is usually 11/12-11/20 and it was like it never happened.

Had a few bucks cruising but absolutely no chasing
