I have an FS128T from Bass Pro. For the frequency that I use mine, I couldn't justify the price of a great Yak.

The compartments leaked, but I fixed it with marine silicone. Seat is comfortable. Tracks well, but not great. When I go out with friends, I am usually bringing up the rear as their Hobie's track a lot better.

Very stable. I can stand easily, bend over, and move around without the feel of tipping over.

Get some wheels for it.

I have the 128T and Delacriox pretty much nailed it. Field and Stream has come out with a competitor the Shadow Caster 123. I've looked at it at Dicks and it looks nice. It is 20 lbs heavier but the setup is great and looks well built. I've never paddled it but it is another option at the 128t price point

Interesting, I have not seen that new Field and Stream rig, looks like a FeelFree Lure copy.

Yep looks like they have the same arrangement as Wilderness System and Perception, they are both owned and produced under "Confluence Watersports".

FeelFree and Field and Stream kayaks are produced under the company "Joy Sports".

Both made by Joy Sports. Same seat as the lure I think. Different hull design, a few less features, and apparently flimsier plastic. But in the sub-$800 kayak realm, it's a definite competitor with the Perception Pescador Pro, the Pelican Catch 120, the Ascend FS12t, FS128t, and a couple others.

10 minutes ago I was going to say that there is no way in hell I would spend $800 on a F&S brand kayak, but if they are coming off the same line as FeelFree, I guess there would not be a quality issue to worry about.

Like you said, hell of a competitor in that price range. The $600-$800 dollar market is getting crazy. Used to be smart to spend that money on a used premium brand, but these new boats coming out as sister companies are solidly outfitted, ability to stand, comfortable seats, etc.

If you wait till the fall when companies start releasing new models, you can get the premium brands for discount prices. I picked up my Predator MX new for under $800. It can be done, just have to be patient.

I still wouldn't buy an Ascend though. I'm sure for some people they work great, but the % of bad reviews for them is higher than almost all other brands. Would much rather spend a little more on a perception pro or get a used native, WS, jackson, old town, etc...

I actually just got an email this morning from Field and Stream with that kayak on sale for $749.99. Also, if you sign up for their reward program you get $10 back for every $300 you spend, so basically like taking another $20 off.

If it's the exact same thing as the FeelFree kayaks then that's a no brainer.

If you are looking to fish from it, as a guy that waited 5 years because I didn't want to splurge one, then I can not suggest enough to buy a peddle yak. It truly is a game changer not having to deal with a paddle. I've seen used Hobies for $1000, if you find one that cheap you can probably re sale it for $1200. I bought a two man hobie 5 years ago for $1100 that I can probably sell for at least $1500 now, i got a great deal but just hold their value great.

I don't even bring anything but a half paddle for an emergency.
