Arkansas Duck Hunting for a BP

Going to make a trip this fall for a buddy of mines bachelor party. Any suggestions on where to go and what time of the season to go? Looking to go around Stuttgart and most of us hunt so accommodations don't have to be the Ritz as long as the hunting is worth it. I know I went to Brinkley late last year and the mallards were very wise so it made for two days of hard hunting. We would probably have 10-15 guys in the group.
Thanks
Thanks

Page Mach316- he's a veteran duck hunter who knows what time it is. Lives in northern Arkansas and can probably give you some good info.

Id personally change plans and go to OK, or Kansas....But if you insist on Ark.....Bayou Metro....or Meto....how ever the say it.....Best in the state

Bayou Meto is public land. We are wanting to take guides who know the area and don't want to have to compete with all the locals up there

I've hunted with these dudes before. Here's what I know for sure.
1. They can handle a crew that big.
2. Little north of Stuttgart/closer to Memphis, but if y'all are bachelorizing, Memphis is close enough for some Cheetah's action.
3. Back in the day, this crew was, uh humm, bachelor party friendly. I've heard they can even line up the talent. Allegedly. Supposedly. The dudes that were leaving when we got there mentioned it. Or something like that. Could have been the camp next door. Probably a rumor. I'd ask him anyway just in case though.
4. Killed a bunch of ducks with them. We hunted early in the season/opening weekend, and the woods had no water as of yet. So, we hunted this rice field, and I shart you not, they had one blind - basically a LONG LONG bench - brushed up, and all 15/20 of us hunted this same spot. I thought to myself "self, this is going to be a Mongolian cluster frick". I also thought to myself "be a gentlemen, let everyone go first, thus, when you get out of the boat, you'll be on the end of the blnid." That worked perfectly. We actually took a boat (3 trips) down a flume ditch to the blind. Anyway, there was a WAD of HUNTERS in one spot. When ducks came in, in sounded like what I pictured the Ardennes as sounding like, circa winter of 1944. Anyway, we did stack'em up, even shooting them in those conditions/trying to get 18ish people hid. Again, was opening weekend, big front had come through, stupid/little ducks/buncha teal and stuff. Was still fun though. Great food, good company/guides, and, for an extra fee (probably), there's the....nevermind, that was probably rumor.
Be aware though, they do stuff differently up there. The rice field we hunted was private. However, what they REALLY like to do is hunt public land. So, there's all these camps - some commercial, some not - build right outside the public launch. it's supposedly a shite show of people trying to get out there. we never saw it, again no woods. just know going in it's different than what you're used to IF you're used to hunting around here. doesn't mean though that you won't kill ducks/have a good time.

That's the thing I was saying in my post. I think Meto is the same way.....buncha guides charging you to go into public land. Which, is likely well worth whatever you pay them. I don't think complete lack of competition is achievable though. That said, a guide can probably get you far enough away to where it's not a huge deal.

Not to hijack your thread or anything but where is a good place u guys go in Oklahoma. I've been to Stuttgart a few times never really did to much up there it's a little too "touristy" to me. Yes it has history as the duck capital of the world but I think that was before global warming lol

It is illegal to hunt with guides on public land in Arkansas.

Y'all are some good friends, that is going to be a blast.
We did Chandeleur Islands for mine for Labor Day last year - fishing sucked but it was good company and lots of beer.

Arkie is real hit or miss, especially Stuttgart area. If I was doing a road trip it would be going to Okie, maybe Kansas, like you said. Not sure about females for a bachelor party up there though.

If you aren't having to go to Arkansas David Melton has a guide operation near Tunica, MS that has his "bull pen" blind which is three stories high. Have hunted it the last three years and killed 72 ducks every time with all twelve of us limited on mallards. It's an excellent set up for what you want.

Do u have to ask for the bull pen?

Yes

Brinkley area was a dud last year due to the drought that plagued Arky. I went to Kansas last year as well and hunted Cheyenne Bottoms and had a lot of success. You could walk in to the majority of the spots, but if you had a boat you'd be in business. Good Luck.
Also, a pro tip for KS.....knocking on doors and asking nicely will work

Thanks for the link. I'm not sure if we want to all try to hunt together like that. Seems like a cluster, but if it worked more power to you. Yeah that's our concern is that we're gonna get grouped up with every other duck hunter in Arkansas. Most of us hunt a lot so want a different experience. Flooded timber would be awesome but I think we will have to hunt public areas to do that.
