About 1/3 of my tomato plants have a discoloration on the leaves. I've done some research and nothing I can find really looks like this. The closest thing suggests either temp fluctuations or P deficiency. My soil is amended with bone meal and slow release 9-4-12 ferts. Maybe that cold front hurt them?

I also thought maybe it might be a fungus. Not quite sure. Sprayed it just in case.

Curious because one of my patio tomato plants did the same thing. Moved him away just in case.

A lot of what I'm reading says "purple leaves" are common on young plants or after transplanting and they'll grow out of it as they mature. It just doesn't quite look like the pictures I'm seeing.

This site has everything dealing with tomato parasites, diseases, etc. it's complete with pictures. Good luck

I'm on mobile but it looks like early wilt symptoms or possible magnesium diffency.

Mid 30s two nights in a row. Water and they should be fine.

Hopefully that's it. I've read that cooler temps could make it difficult for them to absorb certain nutrients. The soil shouldn't be lacking any. and I know I didn't over fertilize. Followed the recommended amount pretty strict.

Suity mold. Its a mold that grows on plant sugars left behind by insects on the foliage. Spray with an insecticide. I like to mix a little horticultural oil with a permethrin based insecticide. Perfect for tomatoes.

Any experience with this stuff?

A quick search on sooty mold and this came recommended. I use a couple other Southern Ag products and they work very well.

I keep bonide eight on hand at all time for the vegetable garden. Permethrin concentrate its safe to spray on just about everything. Like I said I like to mix in just a little bit of horticultural oil too. But you have to be careful because oils you cannot spray when the temp gets closer to 90. It'll actually suffocate the plant at that temp but the eight is still safe in the summer.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure I've seen that at Home Depot. Gonna stop and pick some up.

Must've been a fungus. Sprayed it with Liquid Copper Fungicide yesterday. Here's the same plant a day later:

The leaf my hand is holding is the same from my OP. It was the worst of all of them. It still has a little discoloration, but not like yesterday.

I'm still gonna spray for bugs. It certainly can't hurt.

Spray for the bugs still. You just gave your tomatoes a car wash. The sooty mold is an excretion so it washes off pretty easily with something like fungicide. Make sure you still kill the bugs.
