Definitely want variable power...1-4 or 1-6

I've been looking at a few models

Vortex Strike Eagle
Burris MTAC
Luepold VX-4 or 6

Any others I should be looking at? $400-$700

Thanks.

According to this board, all you need is 1x power but a 75mm objective.

Out of those, the Leupold. Bushnell Elites are pretty good in that range as well.

The Primary Arms looks a little bulky to me.

Which model do you have? I'd like something with a BDC or mil dot reticle.

I have the VX-Hog on my 300BO. Not a hugeeee fan of the "PIG-PLEX" they etched in the reticle, but beside that I love it. I've actually become a fan of the bold edges. I believe it is also offered with an illuminated reticle.

Also look at the VX-R. It's the same scope with a different (also illuminated) reticle.

They can be had for $400-$500. Great scopes.

Not bulky at all either, unlike the vortex and PA

Yeah the size and weight is why I'm interested in the Leupolds.

B and H photo has the best prices on the VXR. I think you can get the patrol version 1.25*4 for 599.00. I have one on my Scar 16 and love it.

I've got a leupold vari-x II 2x7. 33 mm on a 243 that would be excellent on an AR. They are only 300-350 and are extremely clear and bright.

And leupold support is incredible. I bought this scope used 30+ years ago and sent it back this year at a gunsmiths recommendation. Just got it back last week and they sent me a brand new one at no charge. Even shipped it to me for free.

Love the scope only wish it was a bigger/more power for a deer rifle. Would be great on an AR though.
