AR BCGs - Nickle Boron, Phosphate, or Nitrided?

Pros/cons of each?
There are some good black friday prices for Nickle boron ($89.99) and Nitrided ($85) but I don't know which are superior.

None of those is superior to mil-spec phosphate coating. Military experimented with hard chrome and nitrided BCG's early in the development of the M16. The original AR15 spec'd a full coverage HC coating. Resulted in increased failures due to cracking at high stress points. There is no performance reason to chose anything besides a phosphated BCG.

The cracking was on chrome plated BCGs where the coating had built up in the corners. Neither Nitriding QPQ or NiB was around in the gun game during the mid 60s when those trails on the M16 were conducted.
We've seen a lot of improvement in the manufacturing process and machines that create AR15 parts over the last 50 years since.
Will a regular ol' mag phos BCG work, absolutely! But, some people want one harder, slicker and more wear resistant. Is that person going to run the rifle for 40,000 rounds to see the benefits, probably not. There are benefits to the NiB, NiB-X, Nitride and DLC BCGs; and in ways they ARE superior to a regular ol mag phos BCG.

HC and nitride coating cause the same substrate cracking. There wear resistance part is a wash too, the only parts of the carrier that applies to are the pads which ride in the reciever. Rubbing against anodized aluminum that has the hardness approaching tungsten carbide is going to wear away NiB too. Aesthetics and saving a few minutes on cleaning might be enough justification but there is no performance gain.
