Anyone use a shotgun shell as a call?

Watching Yukon men and he burned a hole in a shotgun shell and used it to call geese.

I saw that too. Didn't really sound like a speck but he'll they came to it. No decoys from what I could see...

I used to know an old man that lived on Caddo Lake that would make wood duck calls out of shot gun shells when I was very young. I wish I knew how to do it just for the "cool" factor.

They built sand decoys. Made a little mound of sand stuck two sticks out the sides and out white cloth on the sticks. These guys are pretty badass.

That does not look like something made on the fly. I was thinking the "cool" factor cam from making a call from a spent shell at the last minute.

I have made wood duck calls out of them. Get it right and they sound pretty close to a squealer...
