I want to keep it from the rain, have it dispense freely, and keep the hogs and to a lesser extent the coons out of it.

We have tried everything to keep our protein dry and all of the fancy stuff has failed. Last summer we built 2 troughs with tin roofs over them and they have been the best thing we have ever used. We built it up high enough, 2 foot or so, so the hogs cant reach it, and enough clearance between the trough and roof so the deer can stick their head in and feed. The coons and squirrels are gonna get their share no matter what you do, but the troughs keep our feed dry, keeps the hogs out, and allows the deer to eat when they want.

I'm sure you would have similar results with rice bran, it may get a little stickier if it gets a small amount of moisture on it though.

Ours are similar to this, but we have a tin roof and drove stakes next to each leg and screwed the legs to the stakes to keep the hogs from pushing it over.

A regular protien feeder won't work for rice bran if it keeps it dry?

I am in the same situation BP.

All I have really seen as far as electronic screw type dispensers is the Piledriver by Wildgame Innovations. I want to try it but I dont want to drop the 125 bones on it.

Slinger1317, can you give use more detail as measurements to build it, would make things easier to do, if we can get the info from someone that has already built them and so we don't make a lot of mistakes.
