Not sure if this is common thing on how animals are treated at these places as I obviously don’t know squat about dairy farming.

I watched most of it. You do have to get 'rough' with livestock from time to time but there's clearly some stuff in there that hopefully gets some people in jail where they can get treated like that for a while.

ETA-
Of the 4 minutes of video there's only a total of a combined 20 seconds of "wtf" that will hopefully be prosecuted. The silver lining is they spent 3 months undercover and only got 20 seconds of abuse. I have seen worse. Also fair disclosure I watched with no audio.

I don't know much about dairy farms, but I do know what abuse is and that is way over the line. They need to be shut down period and Coke should be embarrassed that it is associated with such an awful company. Does anyone know what label Fair Oaks dairy products are sold under?

i think part of the underlying nature in why people do this is the reminder that they are destined to be turned into ground meat any way so they see nothing wrong with treating them badly.

not defending them at all and they should be treated the way they treat those animals. im just saying i can see where they get the DGAF attitude towards the way they treat them

I grew up around cattle most of my life. Not Dairy but beef. We never did the type of crap you see in that video. We never threw calves into holes/cages/stables or slammed doors on the head of cattle.

The roughest we ever got was occasionally using an electrical cattle prod to get a stubborn cow to move finally or a light rap with a fiberglass pole my grandfather rarely used.

If my GF were alive today and went to a cattle farm of any type and saw those types of hands treating the cattle like that, he'd find the nearest piece of lumber and go to splitting heads.

There is doing what is necessary to work livestock and then there is just outright malicious intent. Those assholes in the video are just abusive in general. Especially the skinny POS early on with the the cap and cig hanging out of his mouth while he beats on calves.

I work in big ag. and can say that Fair Oaks is a huge corporate dairy with very advanced management. If the allegations are true, they will be dealt with swiftly.

They won’t put up with, or need to have, minor league operations at the farm level.

ETA- I would bet by morning their CEO will be looking for a new job. And with that mark on his or her record, it will be hard to find a job in ag. again

One thing people dont realize is that outside of american, cattle, horses, dogs, cats etc are all just tools. They arent treated with any respect.

Hell in jamaica the goats were treated better than dogs

That’s bullshite. I’ve been on cattle operations in Argentina and Brazil and have cattle farmer friends in Australia and none of them treat any of their animals like that. Hell I know Mexican farmers and they aren’t like that. That is just pure trash from start to finish. How the poster above says it’s only 20 seconds is beyond me.

They need to clean house on that whole operation and apparently Coke has been made aware so hopefully someone will be accountable. frick those people and that’s coming from a milk drinking carnivore.

I've worked cattle ever since I was big enough to ride a horse and that ain't how you treat animals. Until last year I penned and worked 50 head by myself 3 times a year. Looks to me like ice needs to pay a visit and haul those wets back south..

I have not watched the video but I read something last night about it being BS.

Allegedly several people from the group that produced the video got jobs at FOF and were "abusing" the animals to get it on camera. They were eventually found out by the actual staff there.

Again, I haven't watched the video and have no clue if that is accurate.

A common tactic from that side as well. Create a disturbance or pay a worker to create a disturbance to put ag in a negative light.

The bottom end type worker in the video are the same type bottom end worker you'd find as part of subcontractor crews. They have no investment in the work they're doing and simply just there to punch the clock.

No industry is free of assholes.

ETA: It is of no benefit for any animal industry producer to practice bad husbandry practices. The managers of those farms have procedures in place to make sure animals are handled correctly under low stress. Stressed animals don't produce whether it is meat or milk.
