In the market for a new Bass boat and really like the Phoenix boats. I've narrowed it down to the 921 PHX and the 921 XP. Anyone running one? If so likes/dislikes. Thanks

I don't. I run a ranger, but my buddy on the elite series runs one and loves it. I've fished in it a few times and it seems like a well built boat. Only thing I'm not crazy about is the layout. Seems to have a lot of wasted space to me....jmho

Fish against a few guys every now and then that run them. They are fast as all getout. They love their boats.

People with fast boats always seem to love 'em.

All I have is one of those slow 21' Bullets, with a Mercury Pro XS 250 on it.

My Skeeter dealer started selling Phoenix a few months ago. It's a nice looking boat, seems like a quality piece. Greg Hackney, a BASS Elite circuit fisherman makes his living with one, he lives in Gonzales also. But, it'd be hard for me to switch...

I've been on the water with Aaron Martens and Hackney at the classic up here on the red and on Toledo. My poor little 198 Champion with a 225 empty couldn't run with either one of them. Aaron's was fast as hell.

If my wife and kids didn't go with me all the time I would look at the 721XP. However with them always wanting to go when I'm not in a tournament, the wider deck of the 921 be nice fishing 5 deep.

I have a Ranger and I'll say this, Phoenix are super nice boats and you can get all the bells and whistles for 10-20% less. But if you have the money to spend they have Rangers now that are 25-30k off sticker in Bossier

I'm not a big fan of Ranger since Platinum took over. My FLW buddies last 2 520c's have had gel coat problems on the hull. Several others I know have the issue when they look where the bottom hits the runners on the trailers.

I love them but Ranger MSRP are just stupid, 80k for a 20' boat

They all are crazy high now. Both the Phoenix and Skeeters I've priced out are 80k ridiculous

My dad bought a 21' three years ago from a guy who was fishing on one of the lower level pro circuits.
Absolutely loves it so far. Very quality build, good layout, and it really shines best when its handling rough water. It's a very smooth ride but doesn't sacrifice much speed at all for it.
I HIGHLY recommend one.

Don't have one, but I've decided when I'm ready to get a new boat it will be a Phoenix. It'll either be the 721 or 920. Those things a badass!

Cajun Outboards will have some in inventory later this month and will have them on display at the Louisiana Sportsman Show.

Just curious, what's you guys opinion on Bass Cat boats? They don't seem to have a big market share, but have been around forever. Is it because they don't market the same? i.e. don't get involved with tournament trail sponsorship? The ones that do buy them always seem to stick to Bass Cat and don't bounce from brand to brand as much.

Dock, I'm a fan of Bass Cat also. I like them but like the Phoenix more. Bass Cat owners are loyal to the brand but if you talk to the guys at Toledo Fiberglass they will tell you that they are one of the better built ones.

My dad had a Pantera II growing up and that was what people said even back then, and still it's made in the same factory by basically the same family today.
Everyone has their preference and I like the Phoenix, nice sled.

Just find it odd that Bass Cat, despite being competitive price wise, having a great product, and being around sooooo long, they have a lower market share. Has to be because they are not big on sponsorship or "prostaff" stuff, thus you don't see tons of them at big tourney's and that trickles down to weekenders like us...

there are a lot of nice boat brands out there. most people are brand loyal like chevy/ford, but just get a ride in all of them and find the one you like. My main focus would be price. Some are better for speed, some sacrifice a little speed for rough water handling via weight. I would list what you want more in a boat and go from there.
