Wow guys.
This is more feedback than I was expecting. We truly appreciate it Lake, Slack, Duppy, and everyone else.
We are excited but nervous for the life change she will bring.

I haven't met Julie myself. Only the girlfriend has. Julie brought Glaze to meet our greyhound. They apparently were obsessed with each other. I had to work unfortunately Does she really just hand you a puppy of the gender you chose or is their some type of selection based on the dog's personality?
She doesn't seem very communicative as far as updates, pictures, videos, etc. Basically she txt us the mother had the litter and that's it so far. What were your experiences with her? And why did you chose her as the breeder?
Also, what were the mother and father combo? I think our's is Glaze and Myo.
Sorry for so many questions, we've never actually spoken to another Bravo Vizsla owner, so I was excited seeing you got a Bravo as well.

The only thing more neurotic than a Vizsla is their breeders. We had several that wanted to "interview" us and one even wanted to do a walkthrough of our house before she would sell us a dog. Ridiculous.
Julie was much more laid back. We went to her house in Livingston after visiting family in TX and played with all the puppies. Each had a different color ribbon as a collar so you could tell which was which. She recommended a female but we ended up choosing a particularly mischievous male. Was that the male we got four weeks later? Who knows?
To your point about communication, she wasn't overly so but we lead super busy lives (four kids) so it wasn't a problem. In fact, we never received the AKC papers and never asked about them. (Her dogs are definitely registered though)
Last, I can't remember who the parents were. But, ours is an awesome dog in many respects and I hope yours is as. Everything Lakefront said is nearly identical to our experience (except the doggie door). Just remember the first year will be tough but hang in there and she will be part of the family in no time.

They lied to me at first about availability. They then back channeled about me and called back. There was 10 or 13 of those little frickers. Foot went with me to Texas. That was a great day.

Don't remember the people's name. Tyler Tx. It was just a family home of some people involved in some Texas Vizsla club. I think they actually found me after I inquired with the club and was vetted by the leadership and Grand Poobah. Very nice, but had an aTm collar on my pup and called him "Little Aggie". Tore that shite off before we got out of the neighborhood. I think anyway.

we meet all of them week 6 i believe. then we give her suggestions on the girls we like based on the color ribbon they wear. Then she makes the final call on which one we actually get.
i believe that's how the process will work according to the girlfriend.

An old bird dog man told me this one time about picking out puppies.
He said go the litter and turn the puppies over on their backs one at a time and see if they will stay like while you scratch them or rub their bellies. Unusually, according to him, there are only one or two such puppies in a litter. He claims it is a sign of submissiveness and those dogs are easy to train.
I was able to do this once with a litter of Springers. The dog that would let me rub her belly was not the runt but was next to the runt and that dog was the easiest to train dog I have ever own. At 8 weeks I taught her "come" in about 15 minutes and by 3 or 4 months she knew "whoa" with very little training from me. She wanted to please more than any dog I have ever had. She also had the absolute best nose of any dog I ever owned.
We have a boykin now that I was not able to pick from the litter and she is a good dog but nothing like as obedient as that springer was.
I believe in the the little test tip the guy gave me.

that's really good advice. and advice we will use when suggesting which puppy we prefer. i believe i've heard before as a kid, probably from my pops, but had forgotten it. thanks

I had to sign some kind of will not breed agreement. I didn't care because I was going to get him fixed asap anyway.
