True that.

I might get my GPS and walk around and mark everything I see in and around my cove.

Dumb rookie angler question. So you are supposed to fish right on top of the artificial reef? My son loves to fish off the pier and I don't want to set up some sort of pseudo Asian tiger pit that he can jump and impale himself on a sharpened poisoned bamboo spear. Water is about 12ft deep at the end of the pier. Guessing about 15-20ft in the middle. Shallowest part is about 3ft under our boardwalk. I think I might build up some concrete forms and try to make some reef balls. Wouldnt' be round but would be more squarish. Might be a heavy bastard to lug into the cove though.

This looks exactly like the cove where our camp was when we were kids. Like eerily similar..

Is this Toledo Bend?

Catfish like actual cavelike structures, barrels and such

I have token old garbage cans, cut holes though them on 3 sides - ive done some small <1" and some several inches in diameter - and then add concrete and lay them over for the concrete to set.

Not sure if the big holes work better or the little holes.

That's Lay Lake isn't it?

I'm pretty certain I've fished that cove before.

if u have a good bottom just a bunch of cinder blocks works great too but will not go all though the water column. get a green light to attract fish. Wickowick knows all about them

Good thing with PVC is that your lure won't get hung up

I can't imagine this to be true. You have no idea how bad I am at fishing.

I could hang a lure fishing in a swimming pool.

I go to Bass Pro and ask "what sort of rig should I buy to fish?"

Him: "What are you trying to catch?"

Me: "Catch?"

When used christmas trees we always started with rebar cemented into and through the bottom off a 5 gal bucket. The piece through the bottom (about 12-18 inches) would stick in mud bottom and keep the tree from getting laid over. The top side part of the rebar was used to as support for the tree to get tied to. We did this because we flipped the trees upside down to allow fish to have that overhead cover. Some we left like that and other we cut off branches, creating more of an umbrella look.

Got about 600' of the clumping bamboo that borders this walking track. I have a 3-point hitch sickle bar trimmer that I run vertically along here. Usually the trimmings are 6-8' tall, with stalks about the diameter of a finger. Worked perfect for the buckets I made for my pond. There's gonna be a crap ton of it.
