Not on purpose, but they'll hit cut shad on a jug line.

Hard to hook them though. We kept getting our bait stolen one night before we finally hooked and caught one to solve the mystery.

What are you going to do with one if you catch it ?

Do people eat these ?

I catch them all the time on noodles. I get pissed, bash them over the head with a boat paddle and send them to hell where they belong.

Never jug lined for them, but caught a bunch using cut bait on carolina rig. Just set the drag to let them swallow it good before setting the hook.

Sometimes they get a .45 to the noggin, but usually its just a paddle.

Usually head by the shrimp docks with a 2 hook leader. Catch hard heads 2 at time. Cut them in half. Run string through body positioning hard head on top of treble hook. Tie them to jugs throw them out. Go drink at camp till evening then check catch a bunch and rebait check them again in morning. Be careful. I'd recommend hatchet and pistol of any caliber.

If you wanted to start a gar bowfishing guide service, you could make a killing in the basin.

Pain in the arse to clean because of how tough the scales are but if you go through the trouble, lots of good meat. I throw the small ones back because its not worth the trouble, but if you get a good sized one, its worth it for all that meat

It's pretty fun to do. The meat is really good too.
