I am considering having this installed on the front and rear decks of my boat. I almost exclusively saltwater fish, doing a mix of inshore and light offshore. My questions:

How is clean up when compared to fiberglass non-skid?

Does it show wear with age? If so, how soon?

Thanks.

I've had it for 5 years on my casting platform, it can get stained, but not by blood. I have a couple rust spots on mine due to leaving a pair of channel locks laying on it by mistake. Cleans up about the same as most non-skid, but much easier than the non-skid in of my boat.

There is VERY minimal wear, really just the little raised dots, but mostly unnoticeable.

I have had it in for 4 years, no stains yet, use in fresh and salt... just the marks from the neighborhood cats using it to sharpen their claws.

Thanks for the replies. I have Castaway Customs coming to measure the boat this Thursday.

Link?

Edit: LINK I am still going through the thread, but it sounds like Sea Dek is fixing it:

quote:

Quick Update-

I spoke to a manager at Seadek and they believe it may be an issue with the unique color combo I went with, which was storm gray over camo.

They are sending me color samples that should not hold as much heat as the storm gray and camo. They'll let me choose the new color combo and redo the entire kit for me.

I'll keep everyone posted on how it ends up.

Thanks
Chris

Also that Castaway Customs knows how to handle it:

quote:

Castaway warned me about the potential for this when I had it installed a year or so ago. They steered me away from a few colors/patterns that are more susceptible to it than others

Here is something bad about Castaway:

quote:

Stay the hell as far away as you can fro Tyler or Alex at Castaway

I am not working with either of them though...

I have no financial interest either way. Get what turns you on. Thin foam on a deck seems like an issue waiting to happen imo, but whatever.

I like the guy's comment... if you want something soft everywhere you step on your boat... stick something foamy right on the bottom of your feet!

And yes, they are working with that guy now.

Initially, they told him to go away.

A nasty thread on the net prompted damage control. Good for him.

Boat decking that melts in the sun?

Thanks, I am still reading that thread. It is a long one.

I just wanted to provide some more info in case someone else is reading this thread.
