How big of a keg do you plan on running? Those fullsize beer kegs hold about 162 "beers" worth of beer and unless you like drinking swill (e.g. Miller Lite, Coors, etc) you might get bored well before you and a few buddies will finish one in time before it goes bad. I building mine to use a 2.5 gallon corny keg with the option for a 5 gallon corny. That little corny is good for 20 full pints. You get a 1/6 or 1/4 bbl keg and you have 56 to 82 "beers" to get through. I picked up a Haier 150-can beverage fridge from Sam's a few weeks ago. $90 for a quality slim-style tap tower, $60 for a very good regulator, hose, and fittings, and about another $50 for a 5lb CO2 bottle and bracket, and $20 for an aspen panel I'm going to stain and finish for the top.

At some point, I want to brew my own, and have a kegerator.
At this point in time I know little to nothing about either other than I like beer. Many types of beer.

I built mine a couple summers ago. I have a 2 tap in an old fridge with cold mugs up top. It's definitely worth it if you drink a lot of beer.

I got a 2 keg system (kegs, CO2 tank, hoses, regulator) and bought an older garage fridge that is still in good working order to put it in. Plenty of room for the 2 kegs plus bottles and cans, or I can move stuff around and fit a fermenter in there to get it cold.
It took one evening after work to put everything together.
