Anyone ever spray a foodplot instead of clipping?

Toying with the idea of spraying some plots to kill everything then come back in 3-4 weeks to disk and plant.

Gonna use 41 % Glosphate 2.5 oz per gallon.

We cut then spray, come back two weeks later and disc and plant. Works great for us.

As long as it's grassy, that should kill it. If you have any woody plants like tree saplings then you'll need a shot of 24D.

I've been amazed at how well a sapling can survive after being run over and disked. It's like it encourages new growth if any part of the roots are still in contact with the ground.

A few got cut a couple weeks ago until the guy fricked up his bushhog. Still have a few that are tall and thick. Just worried about making the ground a waste land by spraying and my food plots not growing

There should not be any residual effect with plain old glyphos/roundup.

Correct

Spray it, wait for all of that shite to die, smash dead shite with choppers and plant.

Glyphosate has no ground residual effects, so it won't affect anything planted after spraying.

Triclopyr is a better brush killer that'll leave grasses alone

We tried this one year and had really poor results. Now we always cut and spray before planting

That'll work. Glyphosate won't affect any new plants after its been sprayed

We usually bushhog and then disc. This year we sprayed and then used the disc. It is much cleaner and chopped much better this year.

What kind of spraying rig do you use? Something set up behind a 4 wheeler?

This is exactly what we do. Has worked great since we started about 5 or so years ago.

The disc cuts through the dry dead stuff easily.

Ours fits in bed of the mule. We have one that has a knuckle boom that sprays about 15 ft and it also has a sprayer that you hold in hand. They sell them in town @ Precision Chemical. It's by Parkview, 11730 Airline Hwy. They have all the spray also.

Have about 3 acres to do. Bought 96 oz for 30 bucks. Would do about 40 gallons. I underestimated though. Ran a 25 gal tank dry 3/4 way through with first acre plot

I use that one as well. It is the 2.5GPM on a 26 gallon tank. It sprays like a mofo. Some of the best $$$ I have spent.

I cut and sprayed about a month ago. I am taking off Thursday to go put about 1000lbs of lime out then disk. I am trying Imperial Clover this year. New place with brand new food plots. Trying to do it right the first time.

I spray with glysophate and then cut dead crap up with my mower. I just throw the seed on the ground and run over with the 4 wheeler in circles. It always comes up.
