I know this means nothing as far as the classification, but having been around them quite a bit, they act a lot more like rodents than they do pigs.

Yeah, I've only seen Javelinas once. I was working on a project down in south Texas. Had a pack of them walk out on the pipeline right in front of us. We got all of 10 feet away from them before they realized we were there. Pretty funny watching a bunch of squatty wannabe pigs peel out in the dust.
