Not sure if I should have posted on Soccer Board.

The 2wd 2.7 SuperCrew is really appealing to me. I tow nothing and spend 90% of my time commuting under 60mph. Does anyone have experience with the 2.7L EB? Anyone cross shop this with anything else? Pros Cons?

No experience, just call me when you need to be pulled out at Elmers.

I have one. I've gotten up to 28 MPG on highway (65mph). Unbelievable power.

When I tow a light utility trailer with 700-900 lbs, the mileage drops to about 11 mpg

Cons: I hate the auto shutoff feature. I sometimes forget to turn it off and the engine dies.

Read the other day that they are bringing it to all Ecoboost motors in the second generation (2017).

Nice What chassis/cab/trim?

But you can turn it off correct? Tuner disables it too?

I think I read the same thing but didn't see what year. But some were questioning if they were fixing some of the earlier 3.5 issues (i.e. timing chain). I wouldn't mind the 3.5 but right now I'm reading reviews that have the 2.7L w/ 3.55 gear ratio as the best driving F150 combo out there.

I was supposed to fish today, but I'm on call till noon. A group of kayak baws is hitting Coco or Leeville tomorrow but I can't make it. Supposed to be beautiful weather.

I would like to see an explanation on paper justifying shutting down the engine at every stop. I can't make it make sense in my head in any way.

Was about to buy one, but went with the Ram Eco Diesel instead. Was told Ford would be adding a 10 Spd Tranny to the F-150, but still haven't seen it. The Eco Diesel is the best purchase I've could've made. I get 28-30 on the Hwy and my daily average is 23-25.

it's a great engine. plenty of power. but.....don't freak out when you're at the redlight and the damn thing shuts off after 2 minutes. it's designed to do that for fuel economy. it will re-ignite when you press the gas. and there is a bypass switch to turn it off also.

I would not be opposed to the 2.7 with the 3.73

I plan on testing the EcoDiesel more but right now it's last on my list. In full disclosure, I'm not a Dodge/Ram fan, but the EcoDiesel is probably the closest to cross shop the 2.7L. The EcoDiesel gets expensive quick where the F150 gets better in creature comforts. If I towed at all or hauled more, I'd probably lean towards the Ram more.

a little wrong here. As soon as you lift your foot off the brake, the engine restarts. Instantly. No need for pushing the gas. when it shuts down like say in traffic, it will restart after a couple of minutes to maintain the temperature in the cab on hot days even if your foot is on the brake pedal.

I gotta think that this is horrible on the starter. They say its for increased fuel mileage, but that compared to a new starter is probably a wash.

I'm also on call and it's killing me, probably end up staying home this weekend and doing some yardwork.

In regards to the auto start/restart I'm not familiar with the Ford's system but the cars I've been in with it would restart the moment your foot came off the brake or if the temperature changed 1 or 2 degrees. It was weird at first but you get used to it. There's an option to disengage it if you want.

Woah. Is light towing really that bad? I get between 19 and 21 pulling my skiff with an SUV.

Go drive one of the T8 volvos. It's spooky. It will switch over to full electric mode when you get within a certain distance of your house. Bizarre.
