Hey guys, I have a pretty big gator in my pond in my backyard. My dog runs around there all the time and I'm fairly worried about it. Does anybody here hunt or remove or know someone who removes them? Thanks.

Located in Baton Rouge btw

Take a rifle and shoot the son of a bitch. What the frick is wrong with you? Shoot once and nobody will know where that shot came from.

Anyone experiencing problems with nuisance alligators may contact any Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries office to make a nuisance alligator complaint. The LDWF office will record pertinent information and supply that person with a nuisance alligator complaint number and the name and contact information of the nuisance alligator hunter for your area. You will then contact the nuisance alligator hunter and provide him/her the necessary information. The nuisance alligator hunter should respond within 24 hours (less in an emergency situation). Nuisance alligator hunters may charge up to $30 per complaint for removal of nuisance alligators less than 6’. In most cases alligators less than 4’ are not considered a nuisance or threat to welfare of pets, livestock or humans.

Would rather pay the $50 or so and have it done legally.

Bigger than 6 feet. I did see the LWDF post you made. I just wanted to see if anyone on here knows someone who does it just to give them business.

Does quick work in our recreation park pond. Commercial fisherman/trapper by trade, so I support him whenever I can.

If I had a pond, and it had a nuisance gator in it, I'm not paying a more than the cost of a bullet.

Is it illegal to shoot a nuisance gator on your own property?

That was always my approach. I've taken two 6 footers out of my pond.

It's what most do. The law is to stop people from abusing and I understand why, just so much easier for a property owner to pull a gun out of the truck and be done.

Gator's going to die either way.

I follow game laws nutnifnImhad a pond with a dangerous animal in it, I'd take care of it myself.
