What varieties grow well and can handle the heat?

I've grown a couple different varieties of muscadines in New Orleans.

I think muscadines are the only ones that grow

Typically, the local nurserys sell whatever grows in a particular area.

When I bought this house 10 years ago, there was an established vineyard with some of the vines being 40+ years old. Most of the vines are a variety of Cherokee and Norton for disease resistance in the south. There is a retired guy in the neighborhood who takes care of it and makes winewine, do its a great trade-off for me.

I think the LSU ag center can provide info or even plants tolerant to the area.
