It's mostly a stump filled cess pool that for some reason holds birds. It's now a WMA, part of Sage so it follows those rules. It also attracts alot of pressure from Mecca's finest public hunting crowd, but the only way to kill ducks out there on a regular basis is to have a MM or outboard (and say prayers that the lower unit will survive the abuse). It also helps to have a boat blind.

Seen several reports that said they were killing limits the last few days. So it's not really safe for an outboard?

I have 70's memories of Wham but I don't remember seeing Farrah there.

They did a fair amount of shooting this morning. I could hear them from my blind. Like any public place it's a shitload of people battling over not so many spots. It would be pretty tough to hunt blind, with out prior knowlege of where to go. Thankfully I havnt had to battle it in several years. But it will fill up with ducks

Can't confirm Wham Brake sightings but she and The Six Million Dollar Man were definitely sighted in NELA duck hunting on numerous occasions.

You and hardhead the poster are close. I hunt with him over there quite often. We can see a lot and hear everything going on over the levee on the public side.

behind devils swamp - it is the second most polluted water in LA.. you cannot drown there - you would dissolve first.

We ran it with an outboard but it's not for the faint of heart. However, that was 15 years ago. I have no clue what it is like now, but it can't be much better. Luckily, we haven't had to lower our standards to Wham since then.

He's due East of Wham bordering it. Just North of the woods where the camps I think you're talking about are at.

It's the OD green camp with a blue metal roof.

Wonder how pot luck has been faring lately? I figure they've had an awful run this year with all the water just getting to the camp.

It's been terrible. And now he's on a drilling rig for the rest of the season, so he's done unless we try the geese again in a few weeks.

It seems since they've been managing Wham, the surrounding private areas have declined every year. Used to be, it'd get full of water, had permanent blinds, etc. and you could go out to the private places on the weekends and bust their arse most of the time. We still see a lot of birds, but they all lock up and sail into Wham. When you drive over the bridge you can tell they are keeping the water level lower than they used to.

Sounds like you men are talking about Franklin's?
My family were members there back in the 70s and 80s. Used to do a lot of deer and squirrel hunting in Sage off of the blackwater ditch in the woods that border Franklin's. Back in the day, dad said it was 13 and 6 that were the "go to's"
