At the camp this weekend and can't find anyone reporting it but a lot of guys at the landing today that have camps on the spillway side were going grab everything out of their camps. They said they were opening the morganza gates and all their shite was gonna flood.
Anyone else heard it?

Why? Is the MS River that high? I haven't heard any of this.

When it warms up and all the ice up north starts melting, there will be a high volume of flow. Prior to the winter, they lowered the Dakota reservoirs a decent amount to increase holding capacity.

It may be setting up to override the capacity they planned for.

Not even close. It's 14 feet from flood stage in Baton Rouge and forecasted to fall.

I'm sure the discussion was about the spring rise. Have heard a few people say they think we'll get a record rise due to the amount of snow stored up north.

You have a few months before the river watch starts

That makes sense. It sounds they're expecting a big flood this spring. This may be something to watch later on, but I can't see it this soon. I could be completely off base however.

For those that want to see what's coming this way, the link below will track the Missouri River. Right now it is 8-9 feet below normal due to everything being locked in ice.

This will jump up to 17-18 feet when the ice starts melting.

A pic of the Missouri. I guess this is like our mud boats

Explains why I couldn't find anything on the interwebz. Not sure why the locals were running wild today.
