Any Slug Gun Hunters Here?

I've got a gun hunt in Illinois next month and recently purchased a 20GA handi-rifle.
I'm shooting a 275 grain Hornady SST that is supposed to be zeroed at 150 yards.
I shot today a while again and can't get it to pattern worth a shite. The gun is slinging the $2.50 slugs every damn where. Anyone else have any tips here?

Try a different brand. Slug guns are very very picky as to what they shoot well

That's what I'm learning. I guess what I'm looking for here is suggestions on what works for my set up. I chose the Hornady based on the ballistics, but if you can't hit where you're supposed then the ballistics aren't worth a the box they're written on.

I've always heard Lightfield 3“ slugs work best in the H&R guns.

Mine doesn't like lightfield. Federal gold partition is what it shoots best. They're all picky.

Agree with all the others. I've hunted Wisconsin since 1997. Although we do rifles now, we did slug guns for a very long time. Just depends on what your gun likes. I always had great results with Winchester Partition Golds. Good luck.

Not anymore since I value my shoulder.
My 12ga. Winchester 1300 shot the best in this order:
Partition gold 2.75
Win XP3 3.00
Accutip 2.75
Federal Copper HP 2.75
However, the partitions have a lot of penetration.

I got some 3" accu-tips at Puglia's yesterday that will be thrown down range tomorrow afternoon at Honey Island. I'm hoping like hell this is my answer. Update to follow.

4, got a old wingmaster with a 30" full choke that I put down many a deer out to 65 yards with 00 buckshot that you can use if need be.

I bought a box of lightfield hybrid elites for my 12ga last year. 560something grains of .72 caliber shoulder death.
They shoot well but holy fricking mother of hell do they kick out of that little 5.5 pound single shot.
