Thanks bro.
We will probably fish shallow to start then deep. Not sure if we fishing Housen or near the bridge.

The last 2 springs the patterns were completely different.
Once we found the pattern it held the whole week.

Really just messing around until the middle of March then it's on.
Text me if you go back around March and I'll let you know where we catching and on what.

Saw them throw the umbrella rig at Housen 2 years ago.
Guy said he was tired after 30 minutes, he was catching but we caught bigger fish Carolina rigging in 10-15ft of water.
Last year fish were shallow, 4-8 ft.

Started at 11 and fished until 3.
They wanted to grill steaks.
Caught 11.

Started at Housen Carolina rigging.
Caught 4 in the first 15 minutes then the wind got really bad. Fish were caught in 8-15 foot.

Went closer to the bank and caught the rest but still 8- 20 foot at the mouth of a creek.

All fish were caught deep except one buck bass in 3 foot of water.

Should fish a full day tomorrow but they calling for wind again.

We threw spinnerbaits, traps, and other things but no success.

Good to hear. We are headed out in the morning to make the drive from BR. The mad dash is on to try and locate the transducer for my Lowrance. If anyone sees three poling skiffs going up 49.

I've heard the water clarity is spotty but hope is still alive that we will find some trash fish willing to eat a fly in shallow water.

Housen is crystal clear. The rest is stained.
Caught a 4 this morning Carolina rigging bug island then we drifted off the spot and no more bites. Moving now

Wind is crazy. Gusting to at least 30mph.
Caught some fish shallow today.
Speed Craw.
Ended up with 9.

If you want clear water, Housen is the only place I found it.

Caught 4 today by 10 AM. They went 15lbs. 2 deep Carolina rigging. 2 shallow on a black red lizard. Wind was calm until 10 then pushed us off the main lake again.

Y'all definitely did better than my buddies. Last I talked to them (about 12:30) they hadn't had a bite.

Fishing was hard.
I had 4 bites for 10 o'clock and caught 4 fish.
My buddy and the other boat of 3 people had zero bites at that time.
I just got lucky.

Other boat stayed until 4PM and ended up with 3 fish. One over 5.
I think they were in Carrice.
We were by the bridge in the Texas Flats.

We got to the lake a couple hours before dark. Looks like we have a little research to do and some flies to tie before morning. We have all week to figure out but the plan tomorrow is to sink big flies deep into cover early and go looking for water shallow enough to pole in the evening. I think I have a lead on some flats but we will see how it plays out.

If we can find clear shallow flats that are holding carp, minds will be blown

Pardon me for asking but I'm coming from a total marsh fisherman to beginning to fish reservoirs. I've always understood Hydrilla to be a problem grass that can take over a lake and is marginally beneficial for fish, waterfowl, etc. In the marsh, Milfoil is usually Eurasian Milfoil and equal to Hydrilla as marginal for fish/ waterfowl. In the marsh, if you find Widgeon Grass and Coontail, you are on to something. Are we just talking about the same plants but different names?
