I want to make a whitetail hunt during the rut in one of these states next season. I want to see what a "rut" is truly like. Would like to keep the costs between $2-3k. Not getting any younger so I'm going to pull the trigger next year. Hopefully my bad back and elbow will allow me to bowhunt a few more years but I'm not counting on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA

Stay away from CCW Outfitters in Eastern Kentucky. I hunted there last gun season in the rut and left extremely disappointed. They have plenty of deer, but no shooter bucks were seen out of four hunters over four full days. The outfitter wouldn't let us hunt where we wanted, didn't seem to care we were only seeing 50 does and spikes each hunt, and had zero interaction with us before or after the hunts. He dropped us off at the lodge and told us when he would be back to get us. 3k wasted per person.

I'm possibly doing a hunt in Missouri next year with an outfitter I've used several times. Either that or an antelope hunt. Haven't decided yet. Tombstone Creek Outfitters. Check them out

Thanks for the responses! I'm looking at Hickory Hills in Missouri. I'm going to call a few of the references but I don't know how legit that is. I'll be sure to stay away from CCW! I'll definitely check out Tombstone. Being that you've used them several times says a lot.

I'll email him and see what he has available for next season. I think his rut hunts are 1700 including lodging. Semi guided. He's a cool dude.

Looks like Tombstone Creek is a semi-guided hunt which is not a deal breaker for me. $1800 is pretty reasonable! Right now I'm looking at the last week in Oct or first week in Nov. October 30 is a new moon so I would like to go around that time.
