I hate driving all the way back to Bridgeside, not to mention the last 3 times I have gotten shrimp there they were ridiculously small. Buggy and the gang seem like nice people but they shouldn't have been even selling the last shrimp I got from there.

Sand Dollar Marina at the end of LA1.

Wow, have been going down there forever, fished right by there and just never thought of that.

There's a little bait shop on the left about a mile, maybe less, before you get to the road to Elmers, I believe it's called Coastal Bait. They're cash only, I learned the hard way once.

Anyone have recent surf fishing reports? I'll be up there this weekend.

we are gonna paddle from the turn on the road to elmers to the point. hopefully the gate is open early or we will be paddling from bridgeside

Let us know how that turns out, I've been wanting to do that since May but haven't had a chance to get down there. I haven't seen the gate closed very many times, even if it is I think they just close it, no lock. So you can open it yourself and go in. If it is closed and you don't want to do that you can still just park out of the way before the gate and put in in the canal. Going past the gate would save you about a 300 yard paddle difference.

yeah its kinda moot at that point. My plan is to be on the point gorillaville at 5am throwing topwater plugs.
I don't feel that comfortable bringing two noobs across the pass in the dark from bridgside. definitely don't want to walk. its pretty far even with my cart

What'd they catch those on? We walked from the parking area almost to the pass and didn't get a bite. We moved around and never did get anything going.

Bone color Top Dogs, working behind and around the barges to the west of the state park.

Those are some mules. I hit the back of the island last weekend behind the fort and landed a mess of specks that size. I won't be hauling the boat this weekend so hopefully I can pull in a few like that in the surf.

behind the fort is that sandbar still jutting out to the north?
i used to fish it alot and catch 3-4 lb trout when the beach was too rough for my small boat
