I have an invite from a friend for Oct '21. I have been researching a bit and started learning Spanish. Argentina looks amazing.

I have been a few times. What you see on TV shows does not even touch the realm of birds you will see. We typically go in August or September, so you get to hunt in their winter. The country is beautiful. I would also suggest renting guns. It just makes things a little easier travel wise.

I have not but I have had the opportunity to do do with some guys I used to do business with and they went every year. They had a blast and talked about it all year long. I wanted to go but it never worked out.
That being said I have found an area of the US that is as good as dove shooting can get....there is a 15 bird limit so you can't legally shoot hundreds a day (you could if you wanted to but it'd be illegal....the birds are there) and that is SE New Mexico. Seiously. Hundreds of thousands of acres, maybe millions, open to the public and crawling with Dove and cotton top quail....and odds are you will never see another person hunting. For the cost of one Argentinean trip a person could go to NM a bunch...the first couple of trips would consist of scouting but after that you could go at least once a year for a 3 day trip and fully expect to kill a limit of birds every trip in less than an hour. Find any water and in the evenings it will look like something from national geographic with the birds trying to get to it. Find water near on in the path of salt cedars (they grow around water) and it is staggering the number of dove roosting in those trees of an evening. It would be entirely possible in 5 hours to kill 100 dove a day in the area...not that it'd be legal but the birds are there in those kinds of numbers. I know they kill a bunch of dove in Argentina and the trip alone would be worth the effort but if it is just shooting doves NM is several hours and several thousand dollars closer....

nope, but did Mexico around this time last year. 8 of us shot 3000 birds in 3 days, Argentina would probably have way more. it was hot af
bring a recoil pad that you can strap onto your shoulder. i didnt have one with me and by the end of the last day, I was letting the bird boys shoot. use a 20ga. wear sunscreen. other than that, just drink beer and shoot and have fun.

i've been on a few. it's a great time. you can sort of make it as economical or as costly as you want.
fly coach, don't shoot a ton, $$$
fly business, pretend your 20 gauge is a Gatling gun, $$$$$$$$$$$ (one day I shot 3900 rounds, yea I was hurtn' )
definitely worth the trip!

I have been on dove fields in Georgia, Texas, Alabama and New Mexico where this would be possible IF the same management techniques were allowed. Folks bent on doing it and damn the law shoot doves in those kinds of numbers all over those areas...a couple of truckloads of cracked corn will do miracles if you ain't one to follow the law...

yeah, that's wild
i averaged 2 cases per hunt (3 hunts per day) in mexico and I was suffering. cant imagine 3900 in a single day

Is this a typo? That've over 8 shots per minute for 8 hours

Probably not typo. A lot of operations will give you 2-3 bird boys. One to two are for reloading your gun(s). All you do is point and shoot all damn day.

There is no way you shot 3900 rounds in 1 day. That's almost a shot every second over a 12 hr period. Stop making up stuff
Posted on 8/26/20 at 5:48 pm to Bucktail1
60 sec x 60 mins x 12 hrs = 43,200. Me thinks you’re a little bit off.

Just amazing how many peanuts, soybeans, and corn we spill every year at gathering time. Southeast Alabama
Posted on 8/26/20 at 6:18 pm to nismosao
Sorry...1 shot every 11 seconds for 12 straight hrs. Either way, it didn't happen

In doing a little research on the topic today I found countless articles declaring doves practically a nuisance down there due to the amount of grains, etc grown in southern S. America.
