Lyman puts out a reloading but specifically for LR competition, it includes Dasher.

meh....Lyman been around a minute and is a good base start for most folks to break into shooting. I was asking more geared towards folks that comp shoot, do their own hand loads beyond what's in that book, specific bullet calcs and ladder tests. Thank ya tho.

I started shooting BR competition in the late 80's with a 6PPC (NBRSA 100yd and 200yd). Kelbly actions, HART barrels, McM stocks, Jewell 2 ozs. triggers etc... I've built and owned a bunch of 6BRs, a few 22 Dashers, and a dozen Ackley Improved cartridges. I hand load with Wilson and Whidden hand dies. Just bought an AutoTrickler set up with an A&D scale.

If serious about reloading, invest in QuickLoad ($200) or find someone with QL to run the numbers based on your components and rifle specs. It will tell you where to start with various powders, velocity, pressure, and accuracy nodes. It will save you tons of time and money. My newest toy is a 6.5x47L PRS style rifle that I mainly shoot paper at 300-600 yds.

Evidently you have had very good experience with QL. I've been struggling with whether or not to buy it, because I'm struggling with whether or not I can trust it.

I realize its a computer program and GI = GO. Is it usable and valuable for somebody who is brand spanking new to reloading rifle cartridges?

Myself and dozens of other friends have had an EXCELLENT experience as the QL computer-generated numbers for starting loads and velocities are spot on. I don't own QL because my friend will run whatever numbers I need. I find it 100% trustworthy and very usable for someone new to handloading. You enter the data and it tells you exactly what you need to know in a spread sheet for or chart. If struggling about the cmptr program, then stick to the reloading manuals published by Nosler, Hornady, Sierra, Berger, Lapua, Speer, Hodgdon. They are very trustworthy ... always start low on charges and slowly work up.

If you don't want to buy QL, then invest in a reputable chronograph. I own a Oehler 35P which I 've used since 1991. For anyone doing load development, you're wasting your time if you don't have a chronograph. IMO, the single most useful tool when working up loads and trying to find the accuracy nodes, pressure spikes, and velocity. If you load 41.5 grs of Varget and shoot a 1-hole group, what was the velocity, what was the ES, SD, etc... if the chronograph tells you 3167, 3173, 3166, 3178, 3175 then you can properly identify the accuracy node at 3171 fps. With NO chronograph your SOL and wasting time and money.

I have one.
Action built by RW Snyder in an MPA chassis.
Will literally shoot dime sized groups at 200 yards.
Love the gun.
Go to PRB, precision rifle blog. There is tons of info on bullet selection and load data for the dasher

I do not have one but I believe that most of the 6mm shoot very good with Varget and 105 grain bullets. Don't know the loads though.

I will say that if you aren't loading for accuracy yet, know that it's a very deep hole.

You will want a Labradar or a Magneto Speed. If you don't know your velocities, you are not doing yourself much good. After your dies and everything else for reloading, a Chrono is a must.

Berger 105 grain hybrids and about 32.4 or 32.5 is a magic elixir for many people.
I highly encourage that you start at a very safe beginning load and work up incrementally from there
Totally agree on a good chrono.
You might get to a good group without one, but how do you extrapolate any decent ballistic data without it??
A quality 6mm Dasher build is a solid sub Moa gun to 1000 yards and beyond. You need good starting data, confirmed out to distances you shoot and practice to be consistent.
Going to need some good glass to to maximize the capabilities of the gun

I did via ballistic calculator. Zero at 200, guess speed, dial up and shoot at as far as you can (500 yards at least) at a big arse target. Correct dope and back calculate the speed

At 600yds knowing the bullet speed isn’t that important.

At 1000 you need to know you have small standard deviations on you ammo.

100fps difference at 1000yds is significant.
There are many factors that go it to bringing your S/D down.

This is my process (best I can remember):
Deprime
Clean the brass (wet tumble)
Dry brass
Anneal
Neck Size brass
Run it through the expander due to get absolute consistent neck size
Check brass length in case it needs to be trimmed
Deburr if trimmed
Prime
Powder (I have a AutoTrickler which is accurate to .02 grains, a single kernel )
Seat bullet

A few extra steps, but the link is pretty much my process.
I also ck for runout on loaded ammo.
If it has any offset, pull and add to next batch.
I have found that by making quarter turns during the seating process, runout errors are usually minimized.

I neck turn and sort by case weights but only on new cases.

I also weigh and sort bullets. I will say that berger is extremely consistent with their bullets.
Hornady, not so much.

I only have one Zeiss scope.
Good, functional glass.
For long range, I have several Vortex Razor HD Gen II 4.5-27x56mms. I also the same scope in 3-18 mounted on a custom 308 for hunting.
They are one of the most popular scopes in PRS for good reason.
There are other good choices as well. Nightforce and Khales at the top of the list.

Going with SWFA for my next one. I think I have a wandering zero with my current leupold.

I’m not saying you don’t have a problem with a leupold, but I’d rather have a leupold with a problem and a lifetime warranty than a swfa.
