I had an 8pt skull mounted with plans to mount it on an old peice of cypress drift wood... Well it fell off my desk and broke across the eyes. Anyone known where I can find an antler mount kit similar to this?

All I can find is the red felt cover. Still thinking about using the drift wood if I can make it look decent.

ETA: Found Vandyke's Antler Mount Kit

Looking for something almost identical to the first picture, not a skull just a cover with the brass brads or as similar as possible.

I have one exactly like the first picture, but it came from a taxidermist. If that helps you out...

Yeah, thats where this one came from. Steve Anderson, but he sells real estate now. We used to cape out the deer and bring them to him and he'd pretty much do it for free cause he could always use the capes.

I've done homemade like THIS using Crown molding and plaster.

I'd probably just clean the skull cut edges up a little bit and stick it to the drift wood with a couple pieces of heavy steel wire, through around the skull part, through holes in the drift wood and bent down in the back. Once the steel rusts over/dulls a little it'd look pretty rugged.

I thought I've seen those kits at academy before though

Never thought of doing that with the wire, would probably look better with the whole skull though, if you have examples of some pics post them.

The last ones I saw at academy looked kind of tacky but I haven't shot anything in a while to have really paid attention.

I've seen someone do it before just with extra racks they had hanging around and stuck on driftwood. I liked it. I've only done a euro mount though. Don't have any pics. I'll see if I can dig something up online similar to what I'm thinking of.

Honestly you could just get an old bolt that would work and do this

Just don't overtighten. Get it nice and snug where it won't move, but don't crank down too much.

Thats pretty much what we did with some of the smaller racks at the old hunting camp around the skinning shed, think I found it after some detailed googling, might try the next one I skull mount with the wire.

That's the one, I found it on Vandykes and posted it on the link above your post.

Thanks though...
