The st.aug in my front yard, that gets a ton of sun, growing spikey seed pods. Is this normal this time of year? I raised the blades up again, which were already pretty high and seemed to help a bit but still have the spikey seed stalks.

I believe you are referring to runners? Great to replant if you have bare spots.

He's not referring to runners and I don't know what these things are called but I see them in my yard from time to time.

I don't worry about them but they're not seeds.

Seed heads,

Yup. St Aug will do this when stressed for one reason or another. Usually when it needs rain.

I know its not not lack of rain here in BR. I have fertilized twice so far this year and dont want to do it again in this heat. Yard looks great and green, and pretty full.

Personally I have laid st.aug before in july. I just watered the hell out of it and it has been fine.

More experienced people may chime in differently though.

Mine has never needed stress to seed out. Just enough time between mowing.

Yeah I notice it when I wait a little too long between mowing.

Some neighbor's Centipede is creeping into my St. Aug. If I find out who it is, I'm going to bring him a bottle of whiskey.

Cut mine once a week and who doesn't want a thick, healthy lawn?
