What do you refer to as a marsh hen a gallinule or a rail?

pow pow always called them rail pouldo... pronounced "rahl pouldo"

pow pow only got a first grade education too, so im not sure why its spelled one way and pronounced another... unless French?

Marsh hen to me was always the rails you see on the bank in saltwater marsh.

gotta remember that most people here spoke French first, English second. theres a reason why all the old people call something one way and people outside the area call it something else.

We call this the Marsh Hen, not that black thing you're posting.

They are also called clapper rails and are all over the marsh behind my place.

No

A gallinule is it's own thing. It's not the same as a Moorhen and the two are not here during the same seasons.

The moorhen looks like it's in freshwater habitat. Do they overlap territory?

Yes. Pretty sure the seasons are different, but I don't know all the ins and outs of migration of the two.
