Okay, so I moved into this house last August and it didn't have any grass in the back yard. I tried planting but it was obviously too late. I want to have a nice lawn this summer so my dogs don't track so much dirt into the house.

First question...what type of grass should I plant? I want something fairly easy to maintain and something that will grow in low sunlight, high traffic (dogs) area.

Also, when should I look to plant? Any other helpful tips will be appreciated as well. TIA

Will I be able to get that in seed? or will I need to fork over money for sod?

what do you have in front yard? I would sod too, screw that noise in planting costly seeds that may or may not take.

no question here. I agree. Everyone I know that seeds sweats out downpours and it never seems to take right. Sod=instant lawn, you just have to water religiously for about 2 weeks. Good beer drinking practice time.

Get sod and put starter fertilizer underneath and like said before, water like a mofo.

St. A is usally .80 to 1.05 depending on the location and the quantity you buy.

That's not bad at all...

My backyard has been torn to shite due to my dogs. Do I have to even everything out before laying it (like, dig out dirt etc) or can I just kind of rake things around and then do it?

Wait why??/ Explain!!

Think i could do it on my own?? I have to fix up my condo, its half tile half dirt. I'd say about 8 ft x 15 ft, but a flower bed lines it so not even that big.
