Load range (C, D, E) ratings differ depending on the manufacturer. My ATZs are rated at 3150lbs/tire. As long as you aren't towing heavy all of the time, they work perfectly fine. Towing heavy stuff heats them up and they wear faster.
The Rugged Trails on my buddy's Suburban are wearing evenly and aren't loud at all. Maybe you need to take a look at your suspension and drive train.
Take a ride over to Rayne to get your Swampers. They sold me my two sets for the same cheap prices as in a magazine or online and put them on for free. It is amazing how small of a building and company they have over there. There isn't any signs out in front of the building, and it just looks like a medium-sized aluminum building. They also only had one floor jack, one compressor, one set of tools, and one balancing machine. I thought it was crazy when they rolled out the floor jack.
OP, I had a set of BFG ATs on a single cab Tacoma go for 85k miles. I can't remember if they were loud because my last set of ATs was 13yrs ago. I do know that my new ATZs are quiet as a mouse compared to Swampers and MTZs.
If they still made the OG BFG MTs, I would have a set. Those tires were the perfect mix of mud tire and street tire. Sadly, they wanted a new design and got rid of them. New kind only works well on rocks
