Been fishing with this captain since 2006 and do 3-4 trips per year at $800 to $1000 each. Would think a repeat customer would be treated better

This is what I have a problem with. A guide should never make this mistake if the client is a repaet customer.

My dad fishes with Cpt Mark Munson out of Shell Beach a couple times a year. He invited me to go last year and the weather/ wind was brutal. Mark worked his arse off that day and we almost skunded simply due to the conditions. He wouldn't even let us pay for his fuel that day. It was 4 of us, and we all left him $100 each for his efforts. He wouldn't take it, but we left it on his truck seat on our way out. Point being that good guides take care of their customers.

Out this guy so I never have to waste a day with him.

Just in case you want to try someone else, my dad runs charters out of Hopedale with help from my B-I-L for bigger groups. We've had a camp down there for 30+ years, and he started fishing the area a good bit before.

Like someone else mentioned, he wants the people to have a good trip otherwise it is no fun for everyone. However, even with bad weather he always has a secret hole for some trout or reds. He has a 4 or 5 day trip down there right now. My wife (who is no fisherman) and my 6 y/o nephew about hit their limit on trout last weekend, while I did some work around the camp. He informed me thar he was a fishing charter captain not a speckled trout captain and if I wanted to cancel I would lose my $200 deposit

This is a guy you've been doing business with? Sounds like something is missing here.

Some guide like to mess around and play the deposit game. Screwing with people's hard earned $$$ is bad business. The last few guides I have booked trips with didn't even take deposits. "I'm not in the business of taking deposits" seemed to be the standard response when I asked about one. The fact that you were a multi-trip multi-year customer of this dbag and he still screwed you like that speaks volume about his valuation of you and your checkbook. The few people I know that have been in the charter business for years all say the same thing "if the customers aren't happy you'll never make it." I've had great trips with Bill Lake, Tommy Pellegrin, Chris Moran, and josh Ellender. I've got a trip next month with frank drehr who I've heard good things about (no deposit required)

Cpt Mark Munson out of Shell Beach . . . .
Mark worked his arse off that day

I fished with Mark late last year, and I highly recommend him.
The weather was difficult and other boats weren't catching fish, but Mark worked hard and we had a helluva trip.
We'll be booking him again.
