There's a mattress in the swamp near a property of mine that's about 30-40 feet past the tree line, and the tree line is about 10-15 yards from the road. It floated in there during a previous flood. Where the mattress is, the water is less than knee deep.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get it out without having to get 4-5 guys to pull it out with their hands? It's pretty saturated and heavy - just a mess.

Should I just cut it up into pieces and remove? If so, what should I use to cut a mattress?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Strong rope, come along. Once it gets close enough maybe pull it with your truck. Some sort of big hook if you can't tie around it. I don't suppose you could burn it huh? Might be illegal. I wouldn't know.

An ATV would also possibly work. My grizzly would probably pull it out.

Might be Marie LeVeau’s mattress. I wouldn’t mess with it and if she offers you $1,000,00 to marry her, I would think on it hard. Didn’t work out for the last guy

I can tell you that you don't use a chainsaw. After the 2016 flood we tried to cut one up and the fibers clogged the sprocket just like chainsaw chaps do.

I actually thought about doing this. Thanks for the info. Would have been a terrible outcome!

Based on feedback, I'll probably try a 4 wheeler with a tow strap first. Thanks everyone for the ideas!

And once you get it out of the water, just leave it on dry land so the water in it drains off the fibers to lighten the load. Probably be best to get the mattress off the ground and on top of a few well placed branches so it drains quicker.

Once it gets dry enough to handle, then dispose of it.

Thanks brother. I hadn't thought of that either, but will do.

Use come a long to pull up in tree and out of water. Let it dry for couple weeks then cut into manageable pieces with a demo saw, or burn then haul out spring frame left
