You should be able to get a B&W installed for around $500. The installation part of that will be ~$100. It will take a shop 2-2.5 hrs. It wil take you most of the day. You also will (should) get a warranty from the shop that installs it. Is breaking your back, throwing every tool you own, at least once, and saying every cuss word you know, at least twice, worth saving $100 and not having someone stand behind the work? I run a dealership service dept. and we sub it out to a shop in town because it's quicker, cheaper, and easier to let them do it, than letting my regular techs.

You may be able to go on B&W's website and find a dealer. If you can find a mom and pop shop who installs them, that will probably be better than a truck outfitter. They seem to just try to make a buck, not a killin.

I've done quite a few and never had to. Im not saying on certain model hitch or truck you don't have to. I just never have.
