Anyone have any update on when Academy will re-open on Juban Crossing?

I thought I heard that they have sights on being open prior to Black Friday.
I just can't understand how these stores, the big chain type stores, can't get open any faster. Seems like a store like that is losing a lot of sales at times like this, especially with hunting seasons opening.

Yeah, I cant believe the Home Depot in Denham is still closed. They lost out on a goldmine of sales in all this.

Originally the Juban crossing stores weren't supposed to open prior to 2017, but it looks like a few of them will be opened for Black Friday. Not sure if Academy is one of them

I drove by the other day and wondered the same thing, the interior looks to have been refinished and ready for stuff to go in, but then I realized I had gone to the one on airline three days prior and dropped 200 bucks on stuff I didn't really need.
Bigger chains just don't take that as a total loss when they have other locations in the same city. I was in several Home Depot's, Walmarts, lowes etc in the area and it looked like they were making up the lost sales just fine.

I agree. However, the Mcdonalds is still closed. If its a corporate one, sure. If its personally owned, I dont get it. This goes for the BK, Wendys, Churches, etc.

Well its a national company.
Normally, they have a national contractor that they use for projects. That contractor and their insurance adjuster had to come evaluate all the damage. Then they have to open the bid process.
I will say I'm like 99% sure the bidding ended last week.
Its a little more involved than a local store with 1 location. You'd think they would be faster and I bet once the work starts it will be much faster. However, with these large retail projects it takes a lot to get them moving, but once they do get out of the way.

Just seems odd. Chick FilA was open the next day. Arbys two weeks later, Canes last week. The others named above will be another few months, at least.

I get why you think its odd, I did projects for a major retailer and fighting with the insurance adjuster about what needs to be replaced takes a while.

I know some people with HD trying to reopen this. It's amazing what they are having to do to reopen. They are targeting opening by end of this month (Halloween).

It is a helluva undertaking to open a big box retail store.
Add the element of a store's opening is planned nine months in advance, the logistics of the aforementioned items being expedited in front of the dozen or so other stores around the country that were on schedule to come on-line prior to Black Friday and it is a huge task.

I doubt all new shelving and clothing racks, counters, signage, etc was available at the drop of a hat to completely outfit a new store.

A big issue is hiring staff to bring manpower in. All those folks get let go and now they have to rehire, retrain, etc. It's no small task, and it's just one of hundreds of considerations, decisions and challenges with reopening. They had weeks to keep a hiring location open to hire folks. It was at Lockhart Crossing. They don't have that same luxury now...and like it or not they have a stressed labor market right now as well.

It's a logistics nightmare, but I would love to be a part of it. I don't remember where i was today (maybe Denham) and the Walmart says "reopening March 2017"! wow

and Walmart has more resources than all the other companies. I have seen how they do remodels and that is nothing like this. When they do a remodel there is a ton of planning, contractors, etc that have to come into town. Fixtures to order, refrigeration, electrical, the list is long.

Its a blast. Its amazing what goes on behind the scenes. Definitely to much to type.
I would say that most companies have teams that just travel and do this stuff so once the project gets going it goes really fast.
I remember we had a store catch fire once and servpro was in there cleaning before anyone knew what happened. Has to kick them out before they jacked with the insurance.

I worked for a huge retail electronics company based out of Minnesota.
To do that work, probably be based out of headquarters.
