i have 2 units, one new and the other about 20 years old. the new one, even before I replaced it last year, never dripped water out of the outside drain line. the older one is flowing at about a couple of gallons a day.

Google says my main drain line is clogged. Where is this main line? All I can see is the pan under the unit with the discharge line to outside coming from it.

Should have another pvc drain coming out of the coil.

It should drain into a stack/vent usually near the unit. Trace both pvc pipes, the pan drain should go out the nearest eave, the main drain should drain into a stack or P trap.

yep. that's it. it was right in front of my face. i was thinking the only drain was from that pan, so i guess that's why i never noticed. thanks. bleached it up and we'll see. will try to blow it out in the next few days if no improvement.

be careful with that situation...if the drip pan drain stops up, your house floods.

Go get a can of canned air and blow that condensate line out, then add a cap full of bleach. if the line has a few 90's in it, it might be wise to cut the line about 6 inches after a 90 degree fitting and blow the long/straight run out then couple the pvc back together.
