In the not-so-distant past if your buddy uttered the phrase, “Sweet Sixteen,” your eyebrows didn't go up because you knew he was talking about a Browning Auto-5 in 16 gauge. Maybe it was the sweet way these guns handled, their light and trim dimensions, or it might have just had something to do with the way the phrase “Sweet Sixteen” rolled off the tongue. Often called the “Gentleman’s Gauge,” the in-between 16 is, to many hunters, the ideal ammunition for the perfect gun. A well designed 16 gauge is closer in weight to a 20 gauge, with a shot payload nearer the 12 gauge, and patterning that bests them both. Like its most revered predecessor, the Browning A5 16 gauge is built on a smaller, lighter receiver for reduced weight and a sleek feel in your hands. It also benefits from the advantages of Total Barrel Dynamics and the Invector-DS choke tube system to extract the most performance from this revered gauge. The humpback receiver profile increases the length of the sighting plane to give you the same advantage the first Auto 5s were famous for. Pick up an A5 Sweet Sixteen and see how sweet it is.

My grandpa had one that is now 50+ years old. My dad has it now. Fun to shoot for sure.

No.

Benelli let their patent expire so now the Civolani system is showing up in several other manufacturer's models.

I would be all in on a 20 gauge. Hopefully they will follow up on this with one.

Anyone needing 16 gauge ammo, I strongly suggest you look at, and order direct from RST Shotgun Shell

I believe that a 2-3/4" 12 would render a 3" 16 unnecessary. And the advent of the 3" 20ga pretty much sealed the fate of the 16ga as most 16's were just re-barreled 12ga actions and the 20s were smaller and lighter. The above are just my theories based on the guns I've seen.

Properly scaled receivers on a shotgun are a thing of beauty, without it they are junk. Just because you increase the amount of shot in the shell load, does not mean you get a better pattern...

Yep. Nothing sucks like a gun that isn't a 12ga on a 12ga frame.

Slim and trim is what makes shotguns nice.
