A quick question about window units...

Small building, under 800 sqft.
We wanna keep it at 70 degrees or cooler 24/7.
Specwise, a 15000 btu unit will do it.
A 25000 heavy duty 230v pulls 4x as much moisture out of the air.
What does the OB say?
115V 15100 unit is 400ish.
230V 25000 unit is 600.

How well insulated is the building? Around 800 square ft is a little over 1 1/2 ton of air. 12000 btu= 1 ton. 750 Sq ft would be 1 1/2 ton= 18000 btu cooling. That being said I would go with the bigger unit.

On the OB, the answer is always about 6x bigger than you really need or 2x what you can afford, whichever is greater.

Building is well insulated, but a few drafty spots to fill.
Any harm in it being able to cool from 90 to 70 so quickly? That's my main worry. Moisture.

Is it just a wide open building? 15k btu, I belive isn't going to get the job done. 25k will and shouldn't have any problems with moisture because it's not sized extremely too big. It all just depends on how well building is sealed and insulated to how well it will cool and remover moisture.

13X17 kitchen/living room area
15X3 hallway
6X10 bathroom
13X15 bedroom
Microhouse.
Closer to 500 sq ft living.
Closet/server area isn't an area of concern as it is seperately cooled and dehumidified.

If your wanting to cool several rooms, you need to look into a split system. A window unit will cool that area but not be able to be consistent temp and moisture removal throughout. Or a small window unit in each room.

Prob your best option.

What about one of those Mitsubishi ones that mounts on the wall? Can't those support a couple of vents (in addition to the big one), and they only cost like $1500

Okay, so an 8000 for the bedroom area, what size for the rest? 15000, 18000, 25000?

If you could find a mini split system (ex. Mitsubishi) , and with enough circuits to do wall mounts in living/kitchen, and bed and bath for $1500 is really cheap. The good mini splits I have done in the past are several thousand installed with just outside unit and one wall unit.
For window units you could put an 8k in bed room and prolly 12 in kitchen living room area because there probably isn't a spot to put one in bathbroom.

Ended up going with two frigidaire 10k btu units.
Found a proce I couldn't pass up on amazon. Two to my door for under 530.

explain this to me, i was always told with central units that if you go too big, it doesn't run long enough to condition the air enough. Cooling too quickly is a problem too.
