What are they looking for in a GSP? That kennel is not known for producing good hunting dogs.

I know a few dogs from them. Great, friendly, family dogs. But def not hunting stock.

And you can get them for much cheaper from much better pedigrees

Tell him not to get a GSP as a pet. Esp for a kid.

Plenty of better working breeds thay are less energetic and high maintenance

Hoss and I have shorthairs. I have had 4 over the years. They are great with kids but they need exercise and they need a strong-minded owner. A soft minded owner will get walked all over by a GSP.

I agree with this. GSPs are not chill dogs. They have a very high motor. I still run my 6 year old a couple of miles a day, and he is ready for more.

As long as he's got the time and resources to exercise the dog properly it will be a great dog.

If he wants a puppy, there are facebook groups with good shorthairs. Most of the dogs would be out of state. I have gotten 2 dogs from Charlie Rose with Wildrose Kennels in Texas. Charlie has smart, big running hunting dogs.

I'm in Oklahoma and we are talking about the possibility of getting a GSP. Do you know of any places around here?

I disagree, we got Riley almost 3yrs ago from a board member, she has been the best dog we have ever had. I have a 13yr old son that has Down syndrome and this was a trial for us because he was, still is terrified of animals. He and Riley are inseparable. Just like any other dog she likes to get outside and run around, which is good cause the boys love to throw the ball and play outside.

Look at those links I have posted above and depending on where you live in Oklahoma, Wildrose might not be that far.

Unless you have been around them, you cannot fathom the energy and drive pointers and GSPs have....

combined with stamina and curiosity to match the aforementioned.

great dogs but they need exercise and a fence is simply a speed bump...
