but I shot one for the first time Sunday, as fast as I could shoot it, heated it up really good, it never jammed, and the damn thing was very accurate.

Put about 20 rounds through it,was actually pretty impressed, then bought it for 50 bucks.

What do you guys think about these? They have a lifetime warranty.

Not really, some young guy will buy it for 150 bucks pretty fast. These types of guns sell really quick (and I do background checks).

Just saying that I was surprised by the way it shot.

I honestly love mine. Accurate and reliable WHEN CLEAN. They have a bad rap, but Hi-Points have come a long way. The only problem with the .380 is that it uses the same mag as the 9mm. So it will sometimes have issues feeding if you don't keep it clean. There are ways to alter the magazines themselves to prevent issues like that though.

I would buy another Hi-Point. Next time it'll be the .40 though. I want a SCCY 9mm next.

It would be damn effective to throw, but really, it shot much better than I expected.

I would not want to trust my life with a Hi-Point.

Ok, before shooting that Sunday, I would never ask this question, but the gun did well.

So is technology for machining just getting so good, that they are able to do this on the cheap now?

Ok. Let's say I believe you.

Still not trusting my life to a Hi-Point.

They are more reliable when shot sideways

I would keep it to have fun shooting and range time and just messing around when I didn't care about it getting knocked around. I know I don't really care if my ice chest says Yeti or if my pistola says Kimber as long as I'm happy with it.

With that said, I've never owned one and .380 isn't as cheap I've found 9mm generally. So I may be reluctant to buy that gun but to each his own. If you like it, who cares??

Some here will give you shite because hi-pernt but they can be very accurate and reliable. Accuracy is inherent in the design with the fixed barrel. There is a good YouTube torture test of a 9mm version, no Glock or 1911 would have made it half as far.

Unless the test was it being used as a hammer to drive pipes into the ground... Your statement is incorrect.

Hi-Points are far better than they used to be. But comparing them to Glocks, or any other top tier pistol is quite an over- reach.

It was actually a grade 8 bolt driven into the muzzle and my statement stands. Tough shite for you.

The fact remains the hi-points are actually very accurate and reliable especially when looking at the price. Simple blow-back operation and no toggle or camming of the barrel means less moving parts. People hate on them because they are ugly and because they want to hate something. Anyone honest and objective will give credit where it is due.

you already knew what everyone thinks of hi points. what difference does it make?

If it shoots, then shoot it and don't worry about what anyone else thinks. They are cheap and ugly, so what? I wouldn't buy one because there are better out there that I can easily acquire.

I've actually read this before, that they are pretty reliable, and don't jam much.

With that being said, to ugly, and my life is worth more than only spending $120-$150 on a pistol. I'd use it as a club before pulling the trigger.

Might be the GOAT as far a pistol whipping, that is, if you can swing it.

I have a Hi-Point 9mm carbine I got as a throw in on a trade in early 2000's. Ugly as sin. The muzzle brake which is just held on with a set screw wants to come off all the time. Came with a pressure switch activated laser which holds a zero a zero like it was mounted on playdough. Got a crack in the stock one time and a call to high point and they sent me a new stock no questions asked (well, except the question of where to ship it too) and threw in some trigger locks as well. Customer service was excellent. IIRC was worth less than $200 at the time I got mine. I'm guessing it's gone through over 4k rounds and I don't recall a single FTF/FTE ever. Only other firearm I own that I can say that about is my Sig P228.

Everyone who owns a Hi-Point carbine loves it. Shoots anything and everything, fun as hell, reliable. I love mine.
