Was taken Thursday morning around 8:30. He was right on a doe's arse and I shot left handed. Went around 25 yards and literally died in a scape. Second best deer I've killed. I haven't scored him yet, but I'm thinking around 120-125. He's 16.5 inside.

Looks like a cool-arse camp. Old school shack in hardwoods falling off to a pond. And nice buck.

Yea, it's awesome. It's not "mine." My step dad's dad owns around 550 acres in what we call hill country. It's also virgin woods timber. It's ridges straight up and down all over. We have good neighbors that don't shoot small deer and we've been on a program we call the "oh shite" program. That is you don't shoot it unless when you see it you say oh shite Great hunting though. We're not far from the Big Black River, and we can hear duck hunters on the MS shooting.

That ole boy looks heavy. Did you put him on a scale?

Yea he was 190 which is pretty good for where we hunt. Biggest I've ever seen come from there is 225. We have a place on the delta where 225 is not as big of a deal, but for some reason they just don't weigh as much at this property. Almost no fat on deer.

Congrats, but I have to admit I am more jealous of the camp/property than I am of the buck.....one day

Updated score: My scoring put him at 129 1/2. A little bigger than I initially thought by about 5 inches. Great deer and I'm still stoked about it. I'm back home and still go to bed reliving seeing him running up the ridge on the does arse. It happens so quick in real life, but it's one of those things you don't forget.
